I achieve things because I'm willing to work for everything i pray for.
Relationship, Business, Life, Health, Money, literacy etc.
This is my Facebook and not my life! and that's why I'm going say this: It's okay to ask for help, is there any one of us who doesn't need help?
But It's risky waiting for someone to help you achieve a goal that will benefit your future.
I remember 2013 during my WAEC exams, i and a class mate Nelson (who's presently studying medicine at Madonna University, River State) went searching for job after discussing ideas of how we want our future to look like.
I sent job application letters to different Establishments in my town "Agbor" , luckily for me, i was called for an interview after few days of submitting the letter at "Legend Hotel and Resorts".
I was nervous, i couldn't sleep that night, i was just 15yrs old! i haven't had any official job yet except for manual jobs called "nkpo kpo" in pidgin language (Hard labour job - carrying of blocks, woods, iron, cement etc) that i do engage in on weekends or after school closure to meet up with my secondary schooling.
I shared the goodnews to my friend (Nelson) via 2go chat, he was happy about it and he told me of how his dad wants to send his elder brother to study abroad and also how his mum didn't want him to work like we both planned. I was intimidated anyway. The next day i broke my saving box and took the money i could find inside to the market to buy anything that would make me look mature and official 😂.
I arrived in time for the interview and i waited patiently to see the manager. I was immediately referred to the position of a Gardner, then i thought to myself "so na Gardner position of sweeping compound go make me buy clothe of how much and still write letter? Hmmm, this man dey joke" i then explained to him how capable I'm to handle any official position that would be given to me with little or no supervision.
After a lengthy conversation of formal questions and answers, i was offered the position of a receptionist 😇.
My level changed! i was paid 8,000naira monthly... Woaww! I was in the reality of dream! I could eat and shop whatever i wanted at that age. Sometimes i made more than the money i do get from the manual jobs i engaged in even though I'm on a fixed monthly salary.
The monthly salary of 8,000naira began to loose value as my responsibility increased. I rented a room apartment after my 16th year birthday (though i have been living alone since i was 14yr old, don't ask me why, i won't tell you 😢).
It wasn't easy as the youngest staff with a sensitive position, i had so many challenges and i lost the job anyway 😭.
Agbor is a beautiful town where the youths in my time complained of lack of employment yet there was a vacant position for Lucky Udu (me) at the age of 15.
It's very uninteresting to remember how many persons i talked to about supporting me to survive through my secondary school without my both parents alive and me as the only child who never knew his grandparents disappointed me! It's possible that i wouldn't be me today if i never decided to work or maybe i was carried away with too much fun as the handsome young me that i was and i am still 😎.
Thanks for reading, Next time, I'll tell you the story of how i met a girl named favour who helped me after i lost the job (although i went on to work as a gate keeper).
I'll find it interesting to tell you that: "You can achieve all you pray for if only you are willing to work for it!"
